SAFE youth members, accompanied by adult mentors, travel to the state capitol to meet with legislators and advocate for issues affecting young people in their communities. 

After preparing in advance, the students confidently share how SAFE helps reduce peer pressure, promotes healthy choices, and raises awareness about the risks of substance use. They discuss concerns about high-potency THC, the impact of marijuana advertising on youth, and the need for stronger protections to reduce youth exposure to substance-related marketing. 

The experience highlighted the power of youth leadership and civic engagement, demonstrating that when young people have the opportunity to share their perspectives, they can help shape meaningful conversations and influence positive change.
